The Center for Molecular and Genomic Imaging (CMGI) at UC Davis is a comprehensive imaging hub dedicated to advancing mechanistic and translational research across disciplines. Established in 2002, the CMGI provides state‑of‑the‑art molecular, anatomical and functional imaging, together with robust analytical support, to investigators at UC Davis and partnering institutions in academia, government, and industry.

Our imaging platforms encompass PET, CT, MRI, optical imaging (fluorescence and bioluminescence), high‑resolution CT for specimen and ex vivo scanning, and autoradiography. A biomedical cyclotron and radiochemistry laboratory enable on‑site synthesis of PET radiotracers, and are complemented by end‑to‑end expertise in study design, protocol optimization, image analysis, and data interpretation, including both established quantitative pipelines and neural network-based approaches. This integrated capability allows investigators to move from hypothesis to high‑quality, reproducible imaging data with unusual efficiency and rigor.

The CMGI is closely integrated with the UC Davis Imaging Research Center (IRC), UC Davis Mouse Biology Program (MBP) and the National Biomedical Research Institute (NBRI), providing coordinated support for imaging across diverse experimental and translational models. Over its tenure, the CMGI has become a central resource for major centers, programs, and institutes at UC Davis and beyond, supporting work that spans molecular mechanism, advanced image data science, and translation.

Scientists at UC Davis and other institutions are invited to utilize the resources available at the CMGI to advance their research. The facility is operated on a recharge basis and offers pilot study planning for new investigators.
